Sex addiction fuels movies and headlines, but despite this, writes Rachel Hills, it remains poorly understood.

If 2011 was the year of the Hollywood hook-up, with casual-sex flicks such as No Strings Attached and Friends with Benefits, 2012 seems set to be the year of the sex addict. Thursday sees the release of Shame, the critically acclaimed portrait of sex addiction starring actor Michael Fassbender. A recent Newsweek cover reported an “epidemic” of the condition, saying it was leaving a trail of destroyed marriages, careers and self-esteem in its wake. Then there is Thanks for Sharing, a new sex-addiction comedy starring Gwyneth Paltrow, due out later this year.

Sex addiction has been a media constant for several years now, thanks to serial philanderers such as Tiger Woods and Charlie Sheen. But the new breed of sex-addiction-fuelled pop culture is darker than its cynical predecessors, concerned with putting the condition on the map as a real and serious illness.

It will come as some relief to chaps up and down the country – though perhaps not to their wives. The elusive female G-spot may not actually exist at all, according to scientists.

After reviewing 100 studies conducted over the past 60 years, experts have concluded that there is no evidence for the fabled centre of female sexual pleasure after all.

Research leader Dr Amichai Kilchevsky, a urologist from the Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut, blamed pornography, magazines and sex therapists for ruthlessly promoting the idea.

While he admitted the concept merited further attention and that ‘modern investigative techniques’ might help, he said he hoped his conclusion would take the pressure off couples who had not located it.

Is the World Ends in 2012?

If you are worried the world will end next year based on the Mayan calendar, relax: the end of time is still far off. So say Mayan experts who want to dispel any belief that the ancient Mayans predicted a world apocalypse in the year 2012.

The Mayan calendar marks the end of a 5,126 year old cycle around Dec. 12, 2012 which should bring the return of Bolon Yokte, a Mayan god associated with war and creation. Author Jose Arguelles called the date “the ending of time as we know it” in a 1987 book that spawned an army of Mayan theorists, whose speculations on a cataclysmic end abound online.

But specialists meeting at this ancient Mayan city in southern Mexico say it merely marks the termination of one period of creation and the beginning of another.

“We have to be clear about this. There is no prophecy for 2012,” said Erik Velasquez, an etchings specialist at the the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). “It’s a marketing fallacy.“

As quoted from Dailymail, Wednesday, November 30, 2011, a Swedish woman opened a sex school in Vienna, Austria. Wooww.. Sex seems to be an eligible material is sold as a matter of educational services, and she herself became head of the school.

OWC stands on June 4, 2011 in Malaysia where they believe can “cure” social ills such as prostitution and divorce by teaching obedience to their husbands and make them happy in bed.

Is There a Seat Number 13 on an Airplane?
